From Frank Mantlik:
10/26/10 - Stratford, foot of Cove Place -- 1 female BLACK SCOTER with
flock of 15 White-winged Scoters.
Long Beach -- No sign of any bird resembling a Curlew Sandpiper.

From Twan Leenders:
10/26/10 - Stratford -- A Common Eider (possibly the same one Frank
Mantlik reported yesterday) was sleeping in the middle of the cove off
Stratford Point/Short Beach at sunrise.

From Vicky Daly:
10/26/10 - Sherman, 7 Pepper Pond Rd -- 24 PINE SISKINS, 6 PURPLE
FINCHEs at seed feeders in front yard.

From SH Johnston:
10/26/10 - Farmington Meadows -- 2 SNOW GEESE (white morph) continue
with about 200 Canada Geese, on the north side of Red Oak Hill Rd at
the west end of Farmington Meadows; 2 separate flocks (28 and 16) of
AMERICAN PIPITS; 1 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER (juv); 1 PEREGRINE FALCON
(juv) chasing Rock Doves.

From Jerry Connolly:
10/26/10 - Madison, Hammonasset SP, "Middle Beach" near new pavillion
-- VESPER SPARROW, (6+) White Crowned Sparrows (2 adult).
10/26/10 - Madison, The Audubon Shop, feeders -- RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCH, PINE SISKINS, PURPLE FINCH.

From Carolyn Cimino with Hank Golet:
10/26/10 - Wallingford, McKenzie Reservoir -- BARNACLE GOOSE, 1
Northern Shoveler f.
Meriden, Bishop's Pond -- 3 Northern Shoveler (imm.).

From Paul Desjardins:
10/26/10 - Farmington, Batterson Pond -- 2 Northern Shovelers
continue.
Milford, Milford Point -- 2 Red Knots.

From Tammy Eustis:
10/26/10 - Chester, yard -- WINTER WREN.

From Mardi Dickinson:
10/26 - Norwalk Yard -- 3 Pine Siskins.

From Frank Mantlik:
10/25/10 - Stratford, Long Beach (Oak Bluff Ave) - 1 COMMON EIDER (1st
winter male, close in, swimming SE), 1 EURASIAN WIGEON (female with
small flock Am. Wigeon on marsh side / Lewis Gut), 2 NORTHERN GANNETS
(adults).  But the best bird was a  possible Curlew Sandpiper. I had a
brief (2 second) but close look at a shorebird on the beach at high
tide with Sanderlings (1:40), but which vanished as I attempted to
digiscope it.  I spent the next 2.5 hours walking the beach in both
directions but could not relocate it.  It was the size of a Dunlin,
with long decurved bill, but was very pale gray above.  The scapulars
were pale gray but with darker feather shafts. It simply got away
before I could confirm the ID.  And I would have definitely called
people had I been able to relocate it.  I will try to search Tuesday.
Stratford Point (Prospect Drive) -- 1 COMMON EIDER (adult male coming
out of eclipse plumage, swimming south), which I showed to Milan Bull;
1 Great Cormorant, 1 White-winged Scoter, 1 Lincoln's Sparrow.
Stratford Community Garden (Connors Lane) -- 2 White-crowned Sparrows.
Selby's Pond (Elm St. at old Shakespeare Theater) -- female Northern
Pintail.
Wooster Park Pond (Freeman Ave) -- 1 Blue-winged Teal.
