From Chris Loscalzo and Marianne Vahey: 12/07/14 - Ansonia, Ansonia Nature Center -- a flock of eight Northern Bobwhite. Seen feeding on the ground along the trails below the nature center building between the building and the pond. I am aware of a nearby resident who has released members of this species in this area before in an effort to reestablish a "wild" population of Bobwhite in CT. Although the chances of success are slim, the cause is noble. Even though the birds are released, they are beautiful to look at and interesting to observe. So, if anyone wants to see Bobwhite in a local natural setting, this would be a good place to look. From Brian Kleinman: 12/07/14 - Avon/Simsbury, Nod Brook Wildlife Management Area -- Around 9:30 Sunday morning located in the far pond (south pond) there were 5 NORTHERN PINTAIL (in with a flock of Mallards and a few Black Ducks). These are probably the same 5 Pintail that are being seen at Fisher Meadows in Avon, since it is only a few miles away. We felt well-recompensed for being outside in a biting cold wind. From Morris Finkelstein: 12/07/14 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- Two female and 1 male Common Eider in water 20-50 yards off rocks along Moraine Trail at 1:30 PM. Yellow-breasted Chat seen in Bittersweet Tangle by group of birders (me included) at about 12:15, at previously described location close to Nature Center.
