I’m looking for suggestions for the ID of the birds I recorded as they flew
over. See my ebird report for Guida Farms Conservation Area from Nov 3
(Merlin drew a blank). The iPhone recording is not great; it begins and
ends with me shuffling through leaves to see them better; my dog is heard
panting around the 18/20 sec mark.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hi John – your birds sound like Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers to me, but that doesn’t match your description of their size. I have also heard Downy Woodpeckers making a similar sounds, so perhaps that is a possibility.
Any other ideas from our group?
