We have now been here at Greenturtle Bay Marina for 41 days and during the course of our stay here we have witnessed the coming and going of countless vessels of all shapes and sizes as they passed through here on their way south on the Great Loop.  While we were quite alone on our trip down the river system to this location, perhaps because of our earlier departure from the Great Lakes, it would appear that we are going to have lots of company from here on.  I would assume that the potential downside to this could be difficulty in locating dockage or a good anchorage as it could be quite crowded from here on.  But, it will be nice to at last be able to travel in the company of so many other freindly cruisers.

We had intended to depart here on Friday with an eye to a slow progression south towards the top of the Tenn-Tom, however with the advent of what appears to be a very early arrival of several cold fronts (temperature here in NW KY forcast to be in the low 30's this week-end) we think we might just want to put the 200 odd miles behind us as quickly as possible in order to gain what should continue to be better conditons further south.  It is our hope that the weather in the Gulf will fall into less active condition around the first of November in order that we can make our way to Mobile at that time without fear of further Tropical activity.  But, it is anyones guess at this time of the year?
