Requests for Letters of Support

Good Morning,

I am wondering if anyone has a process or policy dealing with requests for letters of support of either Council or the Administration.  These letters come from a wide range of organizations on a wide range of topics.  Most requests are for matters that are outside the jurisdiction of a municipality.  We seem to be inundated with them lately and Council wants to explore a way to manage them rather than just dealing with them on a case by case basis.  One of my lawyers had a look but couldn't find many policies out there with respect to letters of support.

Any insights you have in terms of how your municipality handles them would be great.  Thanks.

Hello Cindy,

I have attached our policy for "letters of support".  And our Flag policy which has a section on requests from the public to fly certain flags as an expression of support.
