I installed a multi wire boat trailer tail light plug about 2 feet  from
the sender so that I could take it off the boat for cleaning. I learned the
hard way that the tiny little wires will not stand much twisting and bending
for  cleaning it on the boat. The plug makes for a quick and easy disconnect.

Once off the boat I hose it down and then place it in a bucket  where the
rods get brushed with Muriatic acid.

If I notice two lights staying on at the  same time between major
cleanings, a sharp tap on the top of the unit will get it working again. If not,
out it comes.
