John Marshall's comments were excellent He indicated that Oregon requires
an Oregon address (with implications of an Oregon tax paying residency) in
order to register a boat in Oregon. Certain states, such as Indiana have a
different approach.  If the vessel is to be in Indiana for more than so many
consecutive days, Indiana registration is required regardless of whether the
owner is an Indiana resident.  This was applied to me back in 2002 and I
can't remember whether I used my Michigan address on the registration or
used the Indiana marina's address for the registration.  However, being a
Midwestern state the cost of registration was nominal.

Not true. Oregon does not require residency. This is not a blanket
exemption, but I won't go into that.
