Anyone experienced with KVH TracNet?B I have tried to access their web
site
but you need Flashplayer to load it and I cannot seem to get Flash to work
on my computer.

Unless you are a world cruiser or you need to launder money there is no
reason to need a tracNet. I run my business from my boat and In our cruising
all
up and down the east coast and Canada we were never without Internet access.
Most of the time we were able to use our Verizion phone attached to our
laptop. It's not DSL but its speed was enough to impress me. When we were
in
isolated areas without digital cell coverage our Internet access was via
satphone. We used Seatel's WaveCall. It is very easy to use and quite
fast. The
only down side is there are no free nights and weekends. We have their most
basic plan ($25 month and something like 50cents per minute). It uses low
orbit satellites and bbent transmissionb.B That means the satellite has
to see
our boat and a Globalstar switching station at the same time.B This limits
the
coverage area for this system But VAGARE doesn't carry enough fuel to go
anyplace it doesn't cover.

While neither a world cruiser nor a money launderer, we did rely on
tracnet while doing the loop this year for 9 months and yes, it is
expensive (4000 minutes for $1000) but we ran a business with 26
employees on the west coast while doing payroll, human resources,
accounts payable and all banking functions.
That said, when (not if) we do the loop next time we will not use
tracnet but schedule "office hours" a couple of days each week at an
internet cafi or a marina with wireless capabilities as needed. KVH
does not have it together and dealing with them is very frustrating, but
that is another story altogether.
