Hello everyone,
A colleague would like to know if any local governments have a program wherein law enforcement audio record a high crime area? They can't seem to find anything directly on point as to whether 1) this is legal under the Fourth Amendment, and 2) whether signs need to be posted warning the general public that the area is subject to audio recording. The recordings would only be on a public right of way and no residences or businesses could possibly be inadvertently recorded.
If you can share information on this, please send it to me at rarneja@imla.orgmailto:rarneja@imla.org and I'll pass it along.
Thank you,
