My older R41X radar has an open array antenna which is suppose to be greased
with Mobiluxe #2 every 6 months according to the manual. Has anyone every
heard of this product? I can't seem to find any reference to it on the web. Is
there another product that can be used instead? Thanks for any insight!

Hi Mark,
Mobilux #2 was discontinued sometime between 1977 & 1998. If your
radar was produced today the manual might call for Mobilux EP-2 which
is a compatible but different product.
The good news is that you don't have to use Mobil products at all if
it's more convenient to use an equivalent product from another source
(more on this below). The entire Mobilux line are Lithium soap
greases - as it turns out, Lithium soap greases are far and away the
most commonly available greases on the market. The #2 in the name
refers to the thickness of the grease and here again #2 is far and
away the most popular thickness on the market. Here are some
alternatives:
Exxon Lidok EP-2
Exxon Ronex Extra Duty 2
Exxon Ronex MP
Exxon Unirex N-2
Chevron Dura-Lith EP-2
Chevron RPM Automotive LC EP-2
Chevron Ulti-Plex EP-2
Mobilgrease Special
Mobilgrease HP
Mobilith AW-2
Mobilux EP-2
You get the idea - everybody makes an assortment of these products. If
you don't feel like going to an oil distributor you can also find this
type of grease at NAPA, Car Quest, or just about any other parts
store.
One of Mobil's marketing strategies is to get various equipment
manufacturers to recommend Mobil products for the equipment in
question. The important thing to note is that it's a RECOMMENDATION
and not a REQUIREMENT that Mobil products be used. It's actually
illegal to require that a certain brand of product be used unless
there is no equivalent product on the market. What Mobil does in
getting their product mentioned in various lubrication plates and
owners manuals is technically legal but I always have thought that it
was a bit 'shady' (albeit clever).
Substitutionally yours,
Alex
