Fuel return inlet

If the fuel gage on top of the tank is one of the common float type gages
with the round, 6 hole tank fitting, they are available with a fuel return inlet.
West Marine has them. I think the brand is Tempest. I believe they are simply
called fuel gages for diesel.

Thanks to all for the excellent responses.  Brian had a great
suggestion...and in the West catalog is a "diesel conversion kit" by
Moeller.  It is an electric sending unit with a fuel return fitting
included.
This will be my route as it would also provide me with an opportunity to
upgrade the mechanical gauges on the tanks to a gauge at the helm.  I will
search the internet and ebay for a deal!

Now if only I could find a single split gauge for both tanks....since I
don't have a lot of helm space.

One simple solution is a single gauge with a toggle switch. Since you'll only
be burning fuel from a single tank, you don't really need two active gauges.
