05/18/14 - Madison, Hammonasset State Parl -- 8:10 AM; White-faced
Ibis in the restoration area marsh.

05/18/14 - Madison, Neck Road/Circle Beach Ave, State Boat Launch --
Nelson's Sparrow sang, did display flight and perched up briefly. Also
a second cycle Glaucous Gull.
Guilford, corner of Sachem Head and Rt 146 -- a dead Least Bittern.

05/18/14 - Wallingford, a pond on Cheshire Rd -- one male ORCHARD
ORIOLE eating fruits from a tree.

05/18/14 - Hamden, West Rock Ridge State Park -- Philadelphia Vireo on
ascent to Baldwin Drive; Yellow-billed Cuckoo on spur road to Judges'
Cave. Note: this park is not accessible by motor vehicle. It can be
walked or biked.
Hamden/New Haven, East Rock Park -- 21 warbler species, including
Tennessee Warbler (several in Giant Steps area), Bay-breasted Warbler
(1 in same area), Blackburnian Warbler and Wilson's Warbler (1 along
the river path). As of mid-morning there were no observations of Cape
May Warbler.
New Haven, yard -- Bay-breasted Warbler.

05/18/14 - Riverside, Riverside Lane near Mary Lane -- 1 Common
Nighthawk at 8 PM.

05/18/14 - Sterling yard -- 75 species (new record). Highlights
include EASTERN WHIP-POOR-WILL, BLACK VULTURE (2), PURPLE FINCH (1m),
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO.

From Brian Kleinman with seven HAS members:
05/18/14 - Simsbury/Bloomfield, Penwood State Park --  3 BLACKBURNIAN
WARBLERS, HOODED WARBLER (heard).  A very cooperative SWAINSON¹s
THURSH allowed phenomenal views and a keen eyed birder spotted a BLACK
VULTURE flying high over the ridge.

05/17/14 - Fairfield, Townwide Big Day -- We recorded 127 species,
crushing the previous record of 118. The highlight of the day was a
KENTUCKY WARBLER at Grace Richardson Open Space, one of 23 species of
warbler observed on the day that also included TENNESSEE WARBLER,
BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, WILSON'S WARBLER. Other
highlights included YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, SOLITARY SANDPIPER,
YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, ALDER FLYCATCHER, CLIFF SWALLOW, MARSH WREN,
GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, BROWN THRASHER.

05/17/14 - Lyme, Nehantic State Forest & Hartman Park -- 11 warbler
species including Cerulean Warler on trip led by Paul Wolter.
