FYI- I filed a complaint with USAA about Lone Star when they were referred to replace my shower pan. They took 2 weeks to turn around an estimate on an urgent need (leaking shower pan) and when they did estimate it was for nearly $10,000, claiming they needed to replace all the tile in the shower and tub area. The company I used instead simply replaced the portion of the tile that had sustained damage (I had spare tiles) and did the job for $2500. I assume Lone Star was just trying to get the fee above the threshold of my deductible, which was $5000. So, just be careful with their insurance billing practices. Thanks for the info, Matt! I got the estimate from Lone Star before I had USAA look at the roof. USAA adjuster estimate was about $2K over the Lone Star estimate. I dealt primarily with USAA (since I work there) and I’m happy with the work done by Lone Star on my rental! Mike came out and looked at my roof (out here) and told me it just needs caulking. I hope you registered a complaint with USAA. The referral program is relatively new and they do take feedback into consideration! Was your home built by Perry or Coventry!!! We had a similar issue with the bathroom tile and various other plumbing issues!!! Our home was built by Perry who insured your home for 10 years / structural issues. We reported it to them!! They replaced all the tile, replaced the floor which was rotten...closed the drain in the tub.... Duh!!!! ... I might add after two years... (We never used that bathroom) reseated the toilet!!!! I kind of think the plumber subs for this community weren't too great!!! A/C too. So many times the issues are the subs and not the Builder but he still holds the ultimately responsibility ...Because it is the builders representative who signs off on their job prior to payment. Always complain to the builder/ or company insuring your Home Structural Warrenty .... And keep pushing until they reject you claim totally... And then you can go to you insurance company. Remember the insurance companies have a # (similar to vehicle vin #) and they know every issue that has been reported to your insurance company. So the less you have to report to them ....The better.. Of course, common sense kicks in and if you have your a/c or hot water heater in the attic poring water through your ceiling..... You have to work quickly! In that case report to both.... Usually the Builder's Home Warrenty is pretty quick and will respond in a timely manner. You do it on line. If you are not the original owner.... Don't forget that you might have a Home Warrenty which you got at the time of purchased from the seller. Not trying to mind your business, but everyone doesn't know how strict the insurance companies monitor your home. Because of some issues, they will not give a new policy on your property . I know!!!!
