Official Counter: 1Counter, Mac McAlpine
Observers: Dave Verkley, Ronnie Goodhand
Visitors:
A few visitors today. Thanks to Mac M, Dave V and Ronnie G for doing the
count today.
Weather:
A pretty good day for raptor migration today with northerly winds all
through the count period. Temps started quite cool at 4C and got to a high
of 10C. Pressure was fairly steady while there was pretty hood cloud cov er
for most of teh day.
Raptor Observations:
A decent flight with 1940 raptors tallied. The majority of today's flight
was TVs (1527), Sharpies (245) and Redtails (122). Also a good flight of
Bald Eagles (21) with N. Harriers (6) and Red-shoulders (13) and the real
highlight was the Golden Eagles (5) including a late one at the end of the
afternoon.
Non-raptor Observations:
None reported today. Check any eBird reports for the Hawk Cliff hotspot for
today.
Predictions:
The winds are supposed to be southerly for the next several days so most of
the flight will be inland from the lake shore. The only flight at the hawk
watch may be right along the cliff edge because of the lift from the
updraft there.
