I also have seen this technique. I hope it was the same guy, (old three
fingers Larry) two people out there like that might be scary. I think there
is enough material out there to start a network TV show, worlds stupidest
anchor techniques.

Don's suggestion for a TV show about anchor techniques should also accompany some candid footage of boat ramp techniqes. I have seen some teriffic scenes at some of thelocal boat ramps.

Don -------Perhaps it seems stupid because you don't understand the
situation. I have anchored this way many times in shallow water going down
wind. I have my anchor line marked for the distance from the pulpit to just
before the props which is about 35'. I let this amount, out let the anchor
catch bottom and as the boat swings around let out more line and then back
down. Voila, pretty fancy anchoring don't you think. Most of the people in
the anchorage think so for they all seem to watch.(I hope someday you have
the pleasure.
