"Another option is a Scandanavian-style slat bed. These are the
best-sleeping beds we've ever had ashore or afloat. A top quality 6"
latex or foam mattress on top of the slats is superior to an innerspring
IMHO. For ultimate luxury, add the Tempurpedic "mattress pad" to the top
(it's a 2" thick mattress itself, yummy comfortable)"

Several advantages here - first of all you can make your own slat bed at very
little cost. I have made at least five of them for my last two land
dwellings. I just screw together four broad planks to make a frame, I put
runners down the two long sides to support the five inch wide transversal
slats. I leave about six inches open air between the slats.
All you need to add is a good mattress. Our Linssen came equipped with these
slat beds. We never have problems with damp bedding. Which is great.
