Hello, all, and happy summer, Since we did not manage to achieve a quorum for the June board meeting, I need to ask you to attend to a few things via email. 1. Review of meeting minutes: I am attaching the minutes of the May and June meetings for your review (the June ones essentially say "we didn't meet"). Please send me any changes or corrections by July 2. If I don't hear from you by that date, I will assume that you approve the minutes as presented. 2. Review of revisions to NCL Advocacy and Public Policy Procedures: I am attaching my edited version for your review. Please send back any comments or edits you'd like to suggest by July 13. We'll discuss and vote on this document at the July board meeting on 18 July. 3. Task forces: We need two, and both need to get started right away. (Sorry to be so late getting going on this; I'll serve on both task forces, but can't lead either.) - Board nominations task force: We have one opening coming up for election this fall, so we need a nominee. This task force needs to issue the call for nominations and handle the election process at the fall Members' Meeting. Kristin, Carol, and Christy, would you be willing to serve on this task force? - Literacy Leadership Awards task force: This task force needs to identify categories for awards for fall 2018, issue the call for nominations, and manage the review process. Longer term, it will also review the purpose of the awards and make recommendations for continuing/discontinuing them. (Hidden agenda disclosure: I'd like us to go ahead with the awards this year so that we can give awards to Gail Spangenberg and Jeff Carter.) Silja, Tom, Heather, and Michele, would you be willing to serve on this task force? 4. Coming events: - Policy calls, 11 July and 8 August. No policy call in Sept b/c of Members' Meeting. - Board meetings, 18 July and 15 August. If you all get going on those task forces and behave yourselves otherwise, we may be able to skip one or both of these. - AEFL Week, 23-29 Sept. The CEF Gala is Wednesday evening, 9/27. To avoid conflict with that, I'm thinking that we'll have the board meeting on Tues 9/25 in the afternoon; Literacy Leadership Awards that evening; and fall Members' Meeting on Weds 9/26. Does that sound okay to all of you? Thanks, everyone. I know it's summer, but no rest for the weary! Hi Deborah,
Thanks for getting all of this together. I approve the advocacy public/policy procedures edits. I was not at the May Board meeting so I canât approve those; and June is fine. I am happy to serve on the nominations task force. I cannot be at the September Board meeting as I at the NCFL conference. I will try to be on a call for the members meeting September 26.
Best,
Carol

3. Task forces: We need two, and both need to get started right away. (Sorry to be so late getting going on this; I'll serve on both task forces, but can't lead either.)
- Board nominations task force: We have one opening coming up for election this fall, so we need a nominee.
4. Coming events:
- Policy calls, 11 July and 8 August.
