THIS WEEK IN TRI CLUB (MAY 23-30)!
Eight days a week! Every now and then we have an extended week that ends
with a holiday weekend and a Monday holiday and this is one of them. And
the great news is that day 8, next Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, will be
our first Blue Marsh OWS/cycling ride of the season!
This creates a great opportunity for you to also extend yourself a bit in
one or more of the following ways...
• If you have not attended a Gators club workout in the past month, make
this the week
• If you swam, biked, or ran once last week, add a second time this week
• If you have not warmed up before your workout and/or stretched after a
workout recently, do it at least once this week
• If you do not have an event on your calendar between now and the end of
the year, add one this week
• If you have not completed an OWS swim this year (or ever?), join us at
Blue Marsh next Monday morning
• If you do not regularly do core or strength workouts, add one for 10-15
minutes this week
There are many ways that you can extend yourself a little bit; if none of
the above work for you, get creative and think of what you can do this week
to extend yourself, just a little. Incremental changes ultimately lead to
monumental success!
Weekend Successes: All of our athletes with events this past weekend
successfully crossed the finish line. Particularly notable were the
following...
• FIRST TIME TRIATHLETE: Denise Kovatch completed her first triathlon at
the Upper Dublin Triathlon!
• YOU ARE AN IRONMAN: Christina Pitchford completed all 140.6+ miles on the
IRONMAN Tulsa course, including a little extra on the swim due to a late
weather-prompted course adjustment!
• TOP OF THE PODIUM: Brian Kozera won his age group at the Upper Dublin
Triathlon!
In addition to the plethora of scheduled club workouts, our club sponsors

Weekly Workouts: All of the following take place over the next 8 days
(reminder #1: Monday and Wednesday evening swims now start and end 5
minutes later than they have in the past so 7:05pm start time and 8:05pm
end time; reminder #2: Tuesday and Thursday evening bike rides now begin at
6:30pm; this will last through July)...
• Monday 5/23, 6pm-7pm, Pope John Paul HS: Run workout coached by Karen

• Tuesday 5/24, 10:15am-11:15am, Spring Valley YMCA Indoor Lap Pool (lanes
5-6): Swim workout coached by Don Schlichtmann
• Tuesday 5/24, 6:30pm-8pm, Reynold's Dog Park/SRT: Cycling Workout -
Intervals coached by Don Mack . Please plan to arrive early enough to be
ready for a prompt 6:30pm departure; if you arrive late you can meet us at
our intervals location between the SRT's Pawlings Rd. trailhead and the
Betzwood Trailhead.
• Wednesday 5/25, 7:05pm-8:05pm, Spring Valley YMCA Indoor Lap Pool (4
lanes): Swim workout coached by Logan Washburn
• Thursday 5/26, 10:15am-11:15am, Spring Valley YMCA Indoor Lap Pool (lanes
5-6): Swim workout coached by Don Schlichtmann
• Thursday 5/26, 6:30pm-8pm, Reynold's Dog Park/SRT: Cycling Workout - Out
and Back coached by Ginny Angus . Please plan to arrive early enough to be
ready for a prompt 6:30pm departure.
• Saturday 5/28 and/or Sunday 5/29: Long rides (4-6 hours) are in the plans
just about every weekend for our long course training athletes. Please post
a comment if you are interested in participating and are not already in the
loop and we'll get you the details.
• Sunday 5/29, 11:15am-12:15pm, Spring Valley YMCA, Indoor Lap Pool (lanes
3-6): Uncoached group swim workout
• Monday 5/30, 8:30am, Blue Marsh Drybrooks Day Use Area: Uncoached OWS
and/or Cycling workout. We'll meet in time for a group photo and 8:30am
sharp 45-60 minute OWS start. This will be followed by a cycling circuit
on the 17 mile "Cujo Loop". You have the option to participate in either
or both. Watch for an event post coming soon!
• Monday 5/30: Run workout and evening swim workout will NOT take place due
to the Memorial Day holiday.
