    [BOS field trip - Saturday, October 24, to the Lake Ontario
    Plains. Willie D'Anna will lead a trip covering the fields
    and Lake Ontario shoreline of eastern Niagara and western
    Orleans Counties. Meet at 8 AM at the Tops Market in Wright
    Corners, at Routes 78 and 104, north of Lockport. Visitors
    are always welcome on BOS trips. Bring a lunch and expect
    the trip to last through the afternoon.]

    The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
    Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
    Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press
    the pound key to report sightings before the end of this
    report.

    The highlight of reports October 15 through October 22 from
    the Niagara Frontier Region was a SUMMER TANAGER, between
    the ridge and Mirror Lake, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in
    Buffalo, on the 17th. There have been no follow-up reports.

    Also at Forest Lawn on the 17th - HOUSE WREN, SWAINSON'S
    THRUSH, 10 YELLOW-R. WARBLERS, PALM WARBLER and 10 PINE
    SISKINS.

    HOUSE WREN was also noted on the 17th at Beaver Island State
    Park on Grand Island, along with BLUE-HEADED VIREO,
    BLACKPOLL WARBLER, and an unexpected EASTERN MEADOWLARK.

    At Buckhorn Island State Park, the north end of Grand
    Island, 4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS on October 15.

    First report of LITTLE GULL this season - October 15 on Lake
    Ontario off Fort Niagara State Park, with a flock of
    BONAPARTE'S GULLS, and a dozen COMMON TERNS.

    Other reports this week - at Goat Island in Niagara Falls,
    New York, an apparent hybrid L. BLACK-B. GULL x HERRING GULL
    was photographed at the pedestrian bridge on the east side
    of the island. At Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo, RED-
    HEADED WDPKR., plus small numbers of NORTHERN SHOVELER,
    NORTHERN PINTAIL and RUDDY DUCK. And, two BLACK VULTURES
    this week over Davis State Park in Lewiston, likely from the
    resident BLACK VULTURES that been in the area for several
    years.

    At feeders this week - FOX SPARROW in the Village of Akron,
    and six RED-W. BLACKBIRDS in Cheektowaga.

    There will be a BOS field trip this Saturday, October 24, to
    the Lake Ontario Plains, covering the fields and Lake
    Ontario shoreline of eastern Niagara and western Orleans
    Counties. Meet at 8 AM at the Tops Market in Wright Corners,
    at Routes 78 and 104, north of Lockport. Visitors are always
