Christmas On Board
(For all afloat this day
And for those who dream to be)
Christmas on board
The memory most sweet
Trawler is home
Rode our only tether
What else could you want?
Parade decorations
The boat, the Mate and I
Dress the bright work
Glowing ropes of red and white
Counting the amps
Yes, ration the galley
Seasons sacrifice
Crown the arch, special this year
Fly-bridge radio filling the air
Silent Night, Home for Christmas
Bell the pulpit, seasons hail
On watch, Dutch or Scottie or Spot or Cowboy
Eyes transfixed, tail a wag
In obvious delight
Now down to the dock all
Appraising the job, sharing
Neighbors congregate to oohh and to ahhh
For transformation ours and for theirs
The docks aglow
Pass another mug all hot and steamy
Generators tested, how's that load?
La Posada, Parade of Lights, St. Nick's Run
Latitudes north and south
Boats and cruisers, hot drinks and good cheer
Dink in to docks to return
With toys for tots
The chill of the night and
The glow of the boats
All of a family
Our parade
Our special bond
We share at home,
Afloat on Christmas Day
And TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT
