RE Fuel Hose
The surveyor this time noted "The fuel hoses are original and may be
due for replacement. These hoses should be USCG approved type A-1."
All the fuel hoses on the boat going from the 3 fuel tanks to the
engine and to the two diesel heaters are rubber Aeroquip, which we
believe to be an excellent hose, but apparently is not U.S. Coast
Guard approved.
Where can we find information on exactly what hose and fittings to use?
Thanks for the help,

Here is where you get the regulations the USCG web site
http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-m/regs/reghome.html
Meeting USCG regulations, Standards and Practices Developed by
ABYC,NFPA,BIA, etc. etc..
AEROQUIP FC-234 Marine FUEL AND OIL HOSE
Fire resistant USCG/MMT, NMMA/BIA Construction: AQP elastomer tube, brass
plated steel wire reinforcement, braided refractory insulation and blue AQP
elastomer cover. Application: Diesel fuel, gasoline, hot lube oil and water
My last rubber hose upgrade I used AereoQuip FC-234 I liked the hose and
fittings, it was easy to work with. This compared to Racor/Parker 221FR
Hose, which had some issues with the type of ftg to be approved even though
the hose was approved,Racor/Parker 221 hose was a real hassle.
Also a good idea to keep copies/a small piece sample, of your new fuel hose
purchase for the next surveyer

' 183.558 Hoses and connections.
(a) Each hose used between the fuel
pump and the carburetor must be
''USCG Type A1'' hose.
This section and a subsequent section only refer to gasoline installations. I
wonder if there is a different section for diese?
