Kingston Area Birds 13 April 2024 – 19 April 2024
Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) maintain records in a 50km radius of
MacDonald Park, Kingston. Birders using eBird are encouraged to share their
sightings with ‘Kingston FN’. Alternatively, please email records directly
to me – contact details below. Please note that some sightings may require
review and remain unconfirmed unless stated otherwise. Species in bold type
require completion of a rare bird report available on the KFN website or
directly from me. If indicated, an OBRC report may be required instead (
http://www.ofo.ca/site/Obrcreport). Some iPhone users report that bold type
may be replaced by asterisks.
Overview: It has been a great week for birding this week, with a number
of species showing up in numbers. We are nearing the end of April and the
weather is looking better. Don’t forget the May Bird Walks coming up
starting on May 1.
*Parish Notes: *In order to differentiate between the Counties, I will try
and identify which county the sightings are from, as some counties have
roads with the same names. Anything from Frontenac County will not have an
identifier but the other counties will be identified as such:
Lennox and Addington – L&A
Leeds and Grenville – L&G
Prince Edward County – PEC
Jefferson County – JC
With a sudden increase in the number of birds this week it has been great
to see the reports coming in. That being said, if there is an abundance of
sightings for a specific species I will only report it if it is reported as
a rare bird. This is to save time and to keep the report from being too
long.
If there are only a few reports I will continue to report them as I
have been.
