Atlantic Crossing

Congratulations on a smooth crossing (all relitative) but far far better than
what we experienced a month earlier in the year in 1984.  Not only did we see
6 days of winds constantly over 60 knots between Bermuda and the Azores, we
saw one day of 55 knots between Florida and Bermuda and comming into Gibralter
we were not able to make the passage for a week (went back into Cadiz, Sp)
because of 55 knots of wind and very short steep seas of about 10 to 15 feet
thru the Straits of Gibralter.

I wonder why the boats crossing the North Atlantic didn't rig lee cloths on
the bunks?--or even put the bunk pads on the floor, where they were less
likely to fall?.  Even in my power boats, I have always rigged some type of
lee cloth---you never know when it will get rough!

Enjoy the med--but remember there are still the Meltimi, the Sorroco, the
Levante and the Bora winds, as well as the NW and Easterly fall gales!--so
keep the eyes open.  Have fun!
