Long period, low-amplitude noise burst in receive during active TDMA operation (B200mini)
Mon, Sep 26, 2016 8:30 PM
Hi All, I have built a TDMA system that uses the B200mini. In doing a simple test to look at processing load for transceiver operation (B200mini transmits when it is told, otherwise is receiving), I noticed an interesting effect.

I also heard that high performance tubes (HP option 004) are more likely run out of Cs while standard tubes are more likely to die of EM saturation in the long-term. A Cs standard running in Cs Off mode is not subject to either of these. If someone has more reliable or inside information please let us know. /tvb

Paralleling CMOS inverters to drive time critical signals is not a good idea because the inverters have skews between them, even if they are on the same chip (die). The skew for an improved version of the 74AC04 part (the 74LVC04) is specified as up to 1.5ns!

When those atoms all travel down the tube, it’s dead. In an Rb, the atoms don’t go anywhere. There is no built in “end of life”. They mostly die from MTBF sorts of things due to complexity and high temperatures, There are HP Rb’s built many decades ago still running on their original cells.

I'd try swapping in a new set just to be sure one didn't die. Otherwise, you've probably got some difficult diagnosing to do. Can you get anything over the RS-232 link?
