Technology versus intelligence
Tue, Jan 18, 2005 11:53 PM
There are certainly more boats cruising--and in some places boaters getting into trouble because it is "so easy". REPLY I believe one reason for the reliance on technology is that it's so easy to buy an legally operate a boat. Therefore, the untrained new boater uses technolgy rather than training.

Finding fuel leaks
Thu, Dec 18, 2014 12:50 PM
My fuel is red and easy to identify in the bilge. I have put small wraps of oil diaper material around fittings and secure them with a cable tie.Slow or random leaks are easy to find. The smallest nick on a JIC face fitting is enough to cause a leak. I avoid NPT threads if possible in favor of o-ring sealing or JIC type fittings.

Re: [OpenSCAD] Automatic reading of coordinates of vertices

In your specific case, it would be easy to compute the needed coordinates since there is no boolean operations to build the model. 2017-05-04 7:49 GMT-03:00 openscadfan : > Hi all, > > I am trying to use OpenSCAD as the foundation to optimize the design of > solar PV system.

Happy Thanksgiving
Thu, Nov 25, 2010 5:06 PM
Hello all, First I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my ZF220 transmission questions and second I'd like to wish the list a very Happy Thanksgiving. The boat will finally be home next week and I'll be able to work on it at my leisure. All the best, Marc and Andree "Over Easy"

This procedure is easy on some crimps but virtually impossible on others.

The key is a stamped metal bump so small that it's easy to mismate in the 180 degree reversed position. There's a much better version which is hermaphroditic (each side has one male and one female pin) and it can only mate one way.

Re: Stability question

Antennas do die. A bird nest on the antenna is *not* helpful. If the 30 db antenna is now an 18 db, some devices may be happy and others may not work at all. 6) Does your device need something odd? This might be a down converter at the antenna end. Even today, some very high end gear runs this way. (it lets them use real long runs of cheap cable.

Marine Wire Myth

Unless you use a hydraulic press box crimping die set, there will be voids. I have the hand opeated dimple die crimper tool and have cut a section of a "good" crimp to see. Examination under a microscope reveals voids. For this reason I prefer the closed end bell style and use of an anti-oxidant paste.
