May 10, 2009 A few new migrants were noted in the Park, even as the winds became from the north late last evening. Many of the same pockets of birds were reported from similar areas to yesterday. Probably close to 20 species of Warbler are still in the Park.

The latest was a light morph NORTHERN FULMAR, a rare visitor not seen for 20 years, at Andrew Haydon Park on the 10th. Meanwhile, the BULLOCK’S ORIOLE persists in Pakenham as of the 10th as well.

If an anchorline breaks in an isolated spot, it's possible (but not easy) to remain inside and move the boat under power by instruments (radar,GPS,depth sounder) so as the get the bow on a beach slope (if one exists) but tides make this only a temporary option...Of course, one may not know if 10 feet or a 100 feet of line is dangling from the bow!!!!

In fact in the SGA unit the reference input goes thru a transistor ( to distort it) and then into a series 10MHz crystal filter so that it can accept either a 5 or 10 MHz input. The crystal also helps filter out any birdies that may be on the reference signal.
