Re: T&T: wifi antenas
Wed, Jun 16, 2010 7:12 PM
Ahoy All: We've been using Autonet Mobile for the past year in both our boat and in our RV. The antenna picks up a signal from any cell phone tower to deliver a wifi signal. If you're in range of a phone signal (any and all companies) you get wifi. Costs a couple hundred $s to purchase, then $29/month. We're very happy with it.

Since zinc is, to coin a phrase, a "least metal", adding sacrificial zincs means the current flows to and erodes them rather than some valuable and essential component of the vessel. I assume, therefore, that the recommendation to "unplug" simply removes a possible source of accelerated deterioration.

Re: T&T: Diesel starting fluid

The vacuum itself will cause as much drag as the compression, different side of the same coin. Finally, I would use a heat gun into the intake. Nice pre-heated air, let the diesel provide its own fuel in a controlled manner. If it won't start then you need to look at the fuel system. David Skooch Worton Creek MD

accurate portable time source

Provision for a coin cell back up battery. unknown) One of the DS3231 parts, in a thermal enclosure that has a time constant in excess of 24 hours. I think it's about the size you request. A temperature sensor changes the divisor based on calibration data. Sort of a doubly compensated device TTCXO or T2XO. I like this one for a practical product.

Now, if you have the more normal tiny coin cell involved with 1/10 or 1/100 that capacity and much lower self discharge …. Bob > On Nov 2, 2014, at 3:17 PM, Hal Murray wrote: > >> By the way the z3801 is off most of the year so the drains quite small. > > I think that's backwards.
