No Townsend's Solitaire 11:10-12:10
Mon, Feb 15, 2016 8:08 PM
this feeling from any other birders that saw this bird.  Does anyone else feel this way while birding in a residential area?  I sure do, unless its a bird coming to a feeder and the home owner's are welcoming.  Hopefully another Townsend's will make its way to a state forest or state park in the future.  If not, I will not be seeing this species in CT.  Anyways, not much else of note around there, except a flyover Merlin.  Best bird of the day was a Pileated Woodpecker flying over 91 N near exit 13. Tim AntanaitisMiddletown Kiera and I will be moving to a quiet spot bordering the Meshomasic State Forest in Portland, CT soon.  Looking forward to some good birding spots there, and REALLY looking forward to moving out of Middletown (too crowded and no good bird spots)!

Rare/scarce bird chases (10/10)
Tue, Oct 11, 2016 12:07 AM
a quick trip to Hammo for the golden-plover. Around noon, it was very near a picnic shelter in the southwest end of the field across from the swan pond, with half a dozen Killdeer. Assume it's American but will look at my photos in a bit. As noted in other posts, the pelican at Riverside Park was present much of the day but left the pond for about 20 minutes or so around 1:45 PM. t headed south, perhaps towards the Charter Oak Landing area, where presumably the same bird was reported a few days ago. I got gripping photos from a safe distance so as to spook the bird, and suggest that others do the same. There is no need to walk on the jetties or closely approach this bird. Anyway, what a fantastic bird for Hartford County! I'm not aware of any previous records for the county. I took today off work in hopes of chasing sparrows but the wind was difficult and I didn't see much along those lines. Other highlights included a Winter Wren (FOS) at the East Hartford Nature Area off Long Hill Road just north of the golf course and a Wilson's Snipe at Fisher Meadow Recreation Area in Avon. Basically one or two birds made an otherwise forgettable day in the field quite successful. Jamie Meyers Canton, CT

Re: Query about List and about 10 MHz Distro
Sun, Aug 29, 2021 2:43 PM
Used it for 1, 5, 10 MHz. Wellll my only issue is every time we had a lightning storm it seemed to fry the ICs. The line drivers and receivers were analog devices ADSL type technology. Was a bit of a pain to deal with as they were smt devices. Tried various suppression methods. I am sure there was a way. But I went back to coax.
