Re: [time-nuts] Visiting Greenwich
Tue, Jul 5, 2016 3:14 AM
I visited the Greenwich observatory a number of years ago, but it was after 5 PM and all of the exhibits were closed for the day. So we only saw the repeater clock and the meridian line. One interesting fact: A GPS receiver will not agree with the line set into the concrete about where zero degrees of longitude is located.

About ten years ago when visiting I turned up to the Greenwich Observatory and walked around the corner to see the Harrison clocks. I didn't know they were there. I didn't know they were anywhere. I'd read the book, seen the doco, but for some reason assumed they weren't around any more.

[Ontbirds] Polling all Birders who've visited West Perth Wetlands in 20080
Wed, Dec 3, 2008 4:34 PM
So...I'd very much appreciate it if anyone who's visited the West Perth Wetland site in 2008 could email me privately and let me know how many times you visited (and if you know dates that would be great too). Also, if you know of any others who've visited the site but may not use or have access to ONTBIRDS, we'd love to hear about their visits as well.

The manual specifies it as a coin battery which it is not. It is supposed to be changed every 3 years. Edmond Badham COSMO Wilmington, NC

TWL: Re: Keel Coolers

I'm no authority on the matter but I've always thought of keel cooling and dry exhaust as being two sides of the same coin. The idea is to eliminate as many holes in the hull as possible and to minimize your dependence on raw water with all its potential problems.
