Re: Tool idea for matching complex curves
Fri, Sep 20, 2024 7:46 AM
All the while, I was wondering what kind of functionality OpenSCAD might be able to integrate for this purpose. I needed to replicate a bracket made out of thin acrylic. I traced it on paper and annotated it with caliper measurements: I opened Inkscape and decided it was too much to learn just then.

Some additional weight aloft is not necessarily a problem for all boats. In fact Jim Leischman writes in the 3rd edition of Voyaging Under Power. p. 128, "We now encourage our owners to carry a sizable dinghy and deck boxes on the boat deck." He was speaking about his N46 design.

With the conventional straight drive system, there is some efficiency lost in the forward-neutral-reverse transmission, but not all that much I suspect.

I live in Proctorville, Ohio, a really small town, or really about 2-1/2 miles above it, and it's all sub divisions here. We're right across the Ohio River from Huntington. The poles for all these houses carry one hot wire on top, off a single insulator, plus there's a ground or neutral, the telephone, and TV cable, and that's all we have on a pole.

Re: TWL: Recharging with 50 amp alternator:
Sat, Jun 14, 2003 5:24 PM
I run my original 26 year old 55 amp Motorola alternator to charge up my 3 group 31 batteries. The batteries feed a 1500 watt inverter that usually just handles the undercounter 110v fridge but also a toaster, microwave, teapot, coffeemaker, tv/vcr, hair dryer, ceramic heater, 110v reading lights (not all at once).
