[Ontbirds] 10+ chimney swifts in flight - Pape and O'Connor (East York)
Fri, Jul 29, 2011 10:54 PM
Tonight, there were around 10, if not more, chimney swifts flying around with some swallows, dipping as low as 10 feet above rooftops. I spent 30 minutes trying to take pictures (almost impossible) so I can be 100% certain they're chimney swifts.

They have a local 5 MHz OCXO locked through a interesting gear with the incomming 5 MHz and a DDS to result in a 10 kHz comparision frequency for the phase detector in the loop. The gear acheives a 512000 increase in gain (1024 from gear-works as such and 500 from the ratio of 5 MHz and 10 kHz).

5 to 10 MHz Qrad Driven Mixer Doubler
Mon, Nov 10, 2014 1:09 PM
A linear 5 to 10 MHz doubler that may be of interest is described in the March-April 2011 issue of QEX. I use it to double the output of an Vectron double oven 5 MHz standard to 10 MHz.

My other fear is that the user's 10 MHz > will pick up some 60 Hz on the way to my system, but I suppose there > is no way I want to be narrower than 60 Hz on my loop bandwidth. > Yeah, not without a much-better OCXO than that.
