ULA Atlas V Launches GPS IIF-10 for the U.S. Air Force > The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket lifted off at 11:36 a.m. EDT. This is the 10th of the final 12 satellites in block II. Best of luck for a good insertion and deployment which should be happening right now. Cheers, John K5IT

>From Frank Mantlik 10/27 Bridgeport, Seaside Park - No sign of the previously-reported Western Kingbird this morning. I scoped the power plant from the park road near the white anchor, and was joined by Mike Resch and Laura Carberry. Re: [time-nuts] 10 MHz over optical fiber?
Tue, Nov 25, 2008 7:15 PM
Possible problems might be that a 10MHz squarewave is simply too 'slow' to be transmitted by an SFP, which expects 1.25Gb/s 8/10 encoded data. Another interesting question would be how much jitter/noise such a setup would add? Regards, Paul Boven.

Re: [time-nuts] 32768 Hz from 10 MHz

Maybe $1 vs. $10 or about that. (don't say "10X" say "$9 more") The DDS does about the same thing is a PIC except that at each cycle it picks an entry from a sine wave table. I don't know if they interpolate or just use the nearest value.

Re: About 10 MHz Optical Distro

What would be nice is if a cheap "box" could be found - ideally (for 10 MHz) BNC in/out and fiber connector with a wall wart for power. Maybe this a good idea for a TAPR project if someone was willing to do the design (!)
