TWL: RE: High Power Cell Phone
Mon, Apr 23, 2001 3:52 PM
The information on the website is very vague but I assume that this the equivalent to an old 3 watt analog bag phone and a device that produces a dialtone for the regular phone devices. When cellular phones were originally introduced, this kind of setup was fairly common. On the surface at least,, that would be a good solution.

TWL: Bubble in battery boxes: CRAZY!
Wed, Jan 29, 2003 2:08 PM
Anyway, the real reasons for battery boxes and tops include the following: to secure the battery firmly, protect terminals from shorting (as via a dropped wrench), keep surface acid from people, provide a physcial support when crawling over, contain acid if the case leaks.

Re: TWL: Tides
Fri, Oct 17, 2003 2:45 PM
*An interesting note from the WXtide website: Their program no longer provides predictions for the British Isles. It seems that the international agreements about this sort of data have undergone some changes over the past few years that allow individual countries to declare ownership of tidal data.
