[Ontbirds]Toronto Islands - Mourning Warblers and Flycatchers
Fri, May 25, 2007 7:14 PM
All of the Flycatchers were calling so it was easy to identify them for once. It was nice to hear the Pewees. The surprise for the day was 2 Northern Mockingbirds. As far as I know they do not breed on The Islands and with that in mind they are late migrants, at least my latest down there.

I do all my boards with ENIG gold... if for no other reason than the gold color makes it very easy to determine when your solder paste properly covers the pads. >> >> And, as Charles mentioned, the quality and thickness of the gold can vary depending upon the board house. I have used gojgo.com for a lot of boards.

Agree on all counts. HP Cesium Standards in the International Atomic Time Scale, the legend of Felix Lazarus, and the "top cover effect".
Wed, Dec 19, 2018 11:36 PM
I think he is the one that discovered the "top cover effect". If you removed the top sheet metal cover from the instrument, the offset would shift by a part in 10 to the 12th or so. If you put the cover on, and changed how tight the screws were tightened, it would shift differently. I recall he wanted us to fix this.

All steel boats are painted. Some(most) alu boats are painted. In general, all boats are painted, including fiberglass and wood. Over last 20 years, average re-coat intervals are about 10 years, at very low cost due to ease of prep for steel hull. Its an easy process, that does not need anything special- Primer, filler (opt) barrier coat, top coat.

A stair step solution I've used is at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2461392/comments  but there was an error (typo iirc) in the code, which was easy to correct. No idea if it will work on the sort of shapes in the svg, and it is slow.
