Message to all fishermen.

I pulled the branch down and saw that the bird had a fish hook stuck through its top bill and was tangled in the line. I proceeded to carefully pull the hook out of the bill and the bird flew off into a tree. Hopefully the bird survived. I then checked the rest on the river bank for hooks and found 3 more hooks with line stuck in tree branches.

Sun, Dec 2, 2007 6:53 PM
They are in the tree nearly all day long eating the berries and I have gotten some excellent photos. I also just saw a red shouldered hawk on Campbellville road sitting in a tree where Twiss road intersects. Directions: grosbeaks... second line between 10th and 15th sideroad (just outside of Campbellville... near Milton)

Re: [PUP] PUP - Cost of cruising, was top 5 boats

All for peanuts. We self insure except for liability which we carry at about $1300/yr. Health Insurance is difficult to get for over 65'ers. Most US policies don't cover oldtimers offshore. OTOH, the cost of medical services from the British Virgin Islands south to Venezuela is far cheaper than the US. Venezuela is the cheapest and also top notch.

Re: T&T: new holding tank installation

There is no need for a vented loop because a back-siphon could not sink the boat -- all it could do is fill the holding tank. And even that's not possible, because the pump has two one-way valves. But, the other side of the coin is: if you'll be running the genny enough for other purposes then minimizing cooking power consumption may not be important, especially you cook frequently and it's a priority for you.
