Re: TWL: RE: Pressure loss in hydraulic steering.......
Mon, Sep 16, 2002 2:39 AM
The Hynautic owners manual calls for MIL- 0-5606 aircraft hydraulic fluid. I purchase it from the local fixed base operation at the local airport. It comes from a can that has this designation on the can. It looks bright red to me. Beyond this, I know little. Am I doing wrong to follow the manufacturers recommendation? Hans J.

Quick disconnect crimp terminals?
Wed, Feb 16, 2005 1:31 PM
Oh yea, my recommendation for a good source for terminals, tools and the like: http://www.terminaltown.com/index.htm They have really high quality stuff with Nylon insulation, including mil-spec if you want that. Keith __ Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here.

I like the heavier 30 or 40 mil, tinted strataglass. Also, be sure to specify goretex (tenara) thread.

Kings cage = 91836 mil spec: M39012/01-0005 a few bucks each 2. consider adding a foam in place insulation, inside the plastic pipe to support the coaxial cable. drill a 1/8" hole every few feet and squirt in the aerosol foam till it comes out of the hole. Go for the minimally expanding insulating foam you will find in Home Depot or Lowes.

Re: [time-nuts] Why are 1PPS signals so skinny?

Doesn't find MIL-TGDBP-41. I got this from my (now late) great > uncle, Bob Sedgwick -- who was to hydraulics what I am to computers, > only he has a number of patents. > > Some smart-aleck at Wright Field, as it then was, put this on a > drawing, and it went without comment for quite a while until someone > tried to look it up.

Re: [time-nuts] Generate 1 PPS signal on serial port

I had to do that some time ago, since I was required to send a PPS signal aligned to UTC, and a time-stamp of this PPS signal using MIL-1553 (surely this is familiar to some people in the list). The time was the UTC time at the computer (well, in this case an embedded one, ntp sync'd through LAN).

Re: [time-nuts] Fwd: 10MHz to 80MHz frequency multiplier suggestions

Both pdf's do not explicitly state it, but it looks suspiciously much like they are using that "10 years Aging Tolerance" in the APR definition. I did check MIL-0-55310, but that didn't give me any clear definition either. So my working assumption for now is that the APR is calculated using a 10 years aging tolerance. regards, Fred
