Re: [time-nuts] Anybody experienced in using a prescaler as a, wideband preamp?

It would probably behave as some kind of funky mixer when you feed it Fc (single carrier) and LO. But once you expose it to the "real world" of multiple carriers, the output would be a mishmash. I also doubt the noise figure would be useful for any useful pre-amplification. "But that's with a pure-tone stimulus.

Re(2): TWL: light bulbs in the bilge

I used to buy these before I found the "Country Service" which are rated at 130V and will practically never burn out. Since I only use bulbs in steel-cages and have never seen one break in six winters, I give the longevity preference over the "Rough Service" type which are rated at 120V.

Re: TWL: Coolant Leak

. >> Hi Charlie, I wouldn't use the PVC or any plastic hose in this arrangement. Thats your engine's coolant you are fooling with. I have no scientific facts to back me up. I just wouldn't do it. I like plastic but not in this case. This installation has too much vibration and heat for me and it's a critical system.

Furthermore all the while I was staring at an already built device right in front of me: It's called a light dimmer. Only I believe it uses a TRIAC instead of an SCR.
