Re: [OpenSCAD] a bit off topic: detecting where support is needed
Thu, Feb 22, 2018 5:31 PM
I don't want to generate support for the spiral prints.  I want to see the parts of the object that are in jeopardy of printing incorrectly, by having a slicer tell me where it thinks I need support.  I can then redesign the object to minimize those areas.  And I was not expecting OpenSCAD to do this for me.

New (?) way to print bores without support
Sat, May 20, 2023 8:17 PM
About 2/3 of the way through this video, we see a new way to 3D print bores which require no support material. I wonder if this approach could be incorporated into any of the libraries that we commonly use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBuWcT8XkhA Jon

Re: [OpenSCAD] Need help to support 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator

There is no generic support infrastructure like for 2D rodents. http://www.codegardening.com/2011/02/using-3dconnexion-mouse-with-qt.html "Qt has no corresponding Qt events for the 3D mouse" As far as I read X11 has some generic multi-axis support, but not Windows nor MacOS.

Re: Recommendations needed for printing support structures

For printing as shown, I don't think removing the necessary supports if you only place them in the middle region would be a major operation, but the surface left would be rough as is generally the case with supports.
