Thanks for the clarification Ian,

That tallies with what I am observing between the tx and rx.

On a separate note, if I connect the two boxes with a wire (and suitable attenuation) should I expect the received signal to be error free, i.e. no need for cfo or timing correction ?

Mohamed you are not the first person to be confused by the interpolating DAC..the digital interface to the N200 runs at 100MHz, the up sampling to 400MHz before the actual analog conversion occurs internally inside the DAC. When doing your interpolation and decimation calculations just treat both data converters as 100Msps. Thus 100/500 = 200 Ksps
